I’m sure you’re looking forward to the Summer break after a successful Summer term of Scouting. I thought it would be a good idea to drop you a quick email with future dates to note for those of you who like to plan ahead.

Electronic copies of the letters to young people and information for leaders are available from the weblink below each event. Full details will be emailed to you for each event in late August and will be explained at the leader’s meeting on 6th September… but for now, please put the dates in your diary.

7.45pm for 8pm start – 9.30pm @ Hobbs Hill Wood Primary School

A chance to network with other leaders, find out about and have your say on future events and pick up tips and ideas to help run your section.

22nd September – Bushcraft Day for Cub Scouts

Phasels Wood Activity Centre

A fun day of Bushcraft Activities at Phasels Wood to include making shelters, lighting fires, cooking and tracking. Young people can be accompanied by parents but we would love for leaders to attend to help with crowd control and running the activities.

13th October – Wine Tasting Jamboree Fundraising Event (18+)

Hobbs Hill Wood Primary School

Back by popular demand! An excellent evening’s entertainment tasting wines from various countries, alongside some well-matched food and fun facts about the wine, where it’s from and how it is produced! All proceeds will support the Jamboree participants fundraising.

31st October – Halloween Activity Evening

Phasels Wood Scout Activity Centre

Join us for a spooky evening of fun Halloween-themed activities. Parents are asked to accompany children (1:4), with leaders supporting the activities. A fun and safe alternative to trick-or-treating!

5th November – Family Firework Spectacular

Hobbs Hill Wood Primary School

An opportunity to have a great night watching some spectacular fireworks and raise money for your group at the same time. The school kindly donate back a percentage of any ticket sales to the group who sell them.

25th November – Cub Scout Scientist Activity Badge Day

Hobbs Hill Wood Primary School

An exciting afternoon of science-themed activities and interactive sessions. Cub Scouts who attend will receive their Scientist activity badge. Cubs will go round in groups of ten, accompanied by an adult. We would ask groups to provide a leader and an extra adult/young leader for every 10 young people participating from their pack. Also an extra leader will be needed to help run the bases.

16th December – Christmas Panto for Beavers & Cubs

Kings Langley Community Centre

Join us for a fun and interactive “Beauty and The Beast” pantomime, delivered by a travelling theatre company. Separate sessions for Beavers and Cubs with 1 free adult ticket for every 6 young people.

2nd February 2019 – Swimming Gala for Cubs & Scouts

Dacorum Sports Centre

Our annual swimming gala, consisting of age-appropriate individual and team races for each section plus a joint relay which contributes to the overall group trophy results. Teams should be accompanied by a ratio of 1 adult to 8 young people. The running order for the races is available on the website.
