A message from the District Commissioner - Stuart Dickens
Stuart Dickens - District CommissionerHello and welcome to the website for Hemel Hempstead District Scouts.

Scouting has entered a new centenary, an opportunity to renew and embrace changes.  Hemel has embraced change at this time.
We have a new website and a new District Commissioner.

Planning for activities is well under way for 2008, our first real opportunity to implement new ideas in this new century, it may be a new event or a new way of doing something that has been done before.

Currently nationwide there is a big recruitment drive going on, sponsored by Sainsbury’s, the aim is to get more time and not money.  Time is more important and valuable than money and often harder to come by.  As part of this recruitment drive we are not going to turn away young people who show an interest in joining the Scouting movement, however, we recognise the need to add Leader and Parent help.

As leaders we give our time freely, however that extra evening at home with the family is of great value to us all and I want that valuable time to be available to you.  To accomplish this we are recruiting assistance, it may be a parent or someone who has never had anything to do with Scouts in the past but has some time on their hands that they can give to us, or someone aged 18+ as either Network or Fellowship member who is looking for a social life with additional meaning.

Whatever the reason if they can give a little time if only for a year then that is time that we can use to buy those moments that many of you do not always have the time for.

If you have stumbled across this site whilst looking for Scouting or simply by chance and I have sparked an interest then please let me know and I will be in contact.  Not every role is uniformed and not every role involves the young people but in some way every role supports the development of young people.

Yours in Scouting

Stuart Dickens
