Gone Home: Dave Holdsworth

It is with great sadness that I write to advise you that Dave Holdsworth has “Gone Home”. Dave died 10th March December 2020., aged 79.

Dave was well known throughout the District having held various roles since joining in the mid 1970’s. Amongst other roles, Dave was involved with 3rd Chaulden for many years and in addition held Assistant District Commissioner roles in Hemel Hempstead. He has long been a member of the Scout Fellowship / Scout Active Support unit and supported many district events over the years.

Using his skills and enthusiasm for water activities – sailing in particular – Dave played a very active part in the district’s water activities team – holding the role of district adviser for over 20 years. As part of this role, he supported activities for young people and encouraged adults to become involved as instructors too.

In 2010, Dave was awarded the Scout Association’s “Silver Acorn” in recognition of “especially distinguished and appreciably better than outstanding” service to Scouting as a volunteer and in 2016, Dave was appointed to the honorary role of District Vice President to recognise his his significant contribution to Scouting in the district for over 40 years.

Funeral details will follow once Dave’s family share his/their requests with me. I’m sure you’ll join me holding Dave’s family and friends in your thoughts at this difficult time.
