Hemel Hempstead District Scouts run a variety of activities for members of all ages. Some run annually, whilst others run on a more occasional basis. Further details on each activity can be found via the menu above (under “activities”).

Future dates are listed below – booking online is easy and takes just a few minutes.

Bushcraft

A chance for Scouts, Explorer Scouts to earn their “survival skills” badge. Also open to Scout Network members, leaders and parents this activity runs January through to September/October each year and consists of evening, day and weekend sessions.

Registration takes place each Autumn term to start the following Spring – check back in September for details of 2020’s dates.

Climbing

A series of evenings climbing to learn the master the basics and get confident on the wall at Phasels Wood – leading on to trips to the XC, Hatfield, Amersham and in the future real rock climbing in the Peak District.

Scouts attending four or more of the weekly sessions have the chance to earn their “climber” activity badge.

Kayaking

In 2013 we began providing kayaking sessions and built up a group of Scouts to be able to tackle a weekend expedition on the River Lea. Similar sessions will take place again in 2019 – more information can be found at https://twowatersactivities.org.uk/courses/paddling/

Scouts attending four or more of the weekly sessions have the chance to earn their “water activities” activity badge.

Motorised Go-Karts

Every Wednesday evening during the second half of the Summer term, 1st Leverstock Green run a go-kart club open to Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from Hemel Hempstead.

Older Scouts and Explorer Scouts can volunteer to be marshalls and pit crew – email gokarts[@]hemel-scouts.co.uk for more info.

Rifle Shooting

Sailing

Our popular sailing sessions are back again at Bury Lake Young Mariners (Rickmansworth Aquadrome). Whether you’ve sailed many times before or never set foot in a boat, our team of instructors will help you enjoy the sessions and learn something new.

Scouts attending four or more of the weekly sessions have the chance to earn their “water activities” activity badge, or Sailing staged awards as well as enter the Hertfordshire County Scouts sailing regatta.
