Promise Renewal Virtual Camp Event 2021 @ Phasels Wood Activity Centre (please use the A41 entrance)
Apr 23 @ 5:00 pm – Apr 24 @ 8:30 pm

Bookings open in March

Most-likely scenario

An online evening event as an introduction to our second “virtual district camp” – something for all the family to join in with and celebrate both renewing our Scout promises and St. George’s Day!

Preferred option

In the unlikely event that Covid-19 restrictions are lifted by late-April, we will run a face-to-face event at Phasels Wood following a similar format to previous years:

  • 4.45 pm – Arrival & registration – Beavers & Cubs
  • 5.00 pm – Activities open
  • 8.30 pm – Activities close – Scouts & Explorers depart

Wear: Activity clothes & Group scarf

During the evening there will be plenty of opportunities for young people and their friends, to take part in various activities including aeroball, garden games, batak, bungee trampolines, backwoods cooking, human buzzwire, human hungry hippos, kurling, land zorbs, pedal racers, potholing, slackline, sucker guns, cresta run, low ropes assault course, nightline trail, orienteering, a photo hunt, inflatables, trampolines, craft activities and climbing the rolling rock and traverse walls.

Cubs (and friends aged 8+), Scouts & Explorers will also be able take part in rifle shooting (subject to weather conditions & a consent form being signed), abseiling, archery, climbing, crate stacking, high ropes cube course, human table football and zip wire,

Some of the activities will have the opportunity to win some TASTY prizes too!

To take part in all these activities young people will require a ‘wrist band entry ticket’ which may be purchased prior to the event at our website: www.hemel-scouts.co.uk/promise

Parents will be required to supervise the Beavers & Cubs (recommended ratio 1 adult : 4 children – max 1:6) as we are asking leaders to help to run some of the activities.

Refreshments for the YP (included in the ticket price) will be available between 5.30 – 8.00 pm.  Tea/coffee will be available for the adults to purchase.

Wet weather cancellation information will be available on the day at:  www.hemel-scouts.co.uk

Inter Troop Scout Hockey Tournament @ Adeyfield Free Church
Jan 15 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Update

Dear Leaders,

Network have planned an inter-district hockey tournament for the Scout section.

Registration 9AM for 9.30 start. Finish 3.30pm

Location; The New Adeyfield Free Church.Adeyfield Free Church, Hosking Ct, Maylands Avenue, HP2 4GZ

Please note that parking at the site is limited. If parents can lift share to and from it would save space and time. Please encourage scouts to bring board games for entertainment. Phones will be allowed, but volume must be kept off. Also a reminder to get team numbers back to me ASAP.

The teams will be made of 5 scouts (1 goal keeper, 4 fielders). We will also require at least 1 leader/parent helper from each group to be with their teams for moral support and to help keep the peace while teams are waiting to play. There is a cost of £5 per child to cover expenses of the event.

There is a penalty system for the day, although I desperately hope it won’t be needed. However, if it is then it may result in individual players being disallowed to continue playing (the rest of the team will continue without the player). Whole teams also may be disqualified. As I say, I hope these won’t be needed.

On a cheerier note, we are hoping to have a really enjoyable day and we hope you will join us in making that happen. If we can get an idea how many groups would like to field at least 1 team then I can say whether we can allow for more teams.

Can you please send all your team lists too me as soon as possible. Bring the health forms with you on the day. Also contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you for your support.
