Gone home: Pete West

Hello

It is with sadness that we share news that Pete West passed away on Tuesday 3rd March 2026 after fighting a brave four-year battle with cancer. He was at peace in the family home, free from pain and with his family by his side.

Pete held a number of roles in Scouting and followed in his parent’s footsteps leading 4th Boxmoor Scout Group for many years.

As well as his dedication to 4th Boxmoor, Pete supported the water activities group in Hemel Hempstead, supporting weekly sessions at Bury Lake, the County sailing at Brightlingsea and expeditions to Lochearnhead. Pete was well-known across the district thanks to his support for many district events where he would often be found driving minibuses or supporting in some other way.

Our thoughts are with his wife Sue and the rest of his family and friends and we will share funeral details when they’re available for those who wish to honour and give thanks for Pete’s life.
